Rahim will play with the Tigers for the upcoming Test against Zimbabwe.
Mushfiqur Rahim, the former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team returns to the squad for the upcoming one-off Test against Zimbabwe.
Although there were questions over Rahim’s place, head coach Russel Domingo admitted that Rahim should be included in the squad as he was the best player of the Tigers.
‘I believe we have selected the best possible Test squad under present circumstances. There is a very nice blend of experience and potential’, Minhajul Abedin said, the Chairman of the Selection Panel. ‘It is unfortunate that some players had to miss out but our priority has been to ensure balance and continuity’, he added.
Rahim also served as Bangladesh’s vice-captain across all formats and is ranked as one of the world’s most famous athletes by ESPN ‘WORLD FAME 100’ last year. Jamie Siddons, the former coach of Bangladesh was also impressed at how Rahim can bat anywhere in the top-order. He also has the highest individual score by a Bangladesh batsman and the second batsman to score a total of 4,000 runs in Tests.
