Shah scored the first Test hundred of Team Afghanistan
Batsman Shah is the first player of his team to score a century in Test cricket. He scored Afghanistan’s first Test hundred during the team’s one-off Test against Bangladesh. The ongoing match that started yesterday continues until September 9.
Shah scored 102 runs in the first day of the Test match against Bangladesh, becoming the first player of his team to score a Test century. He had the chance to score a Test century in Afghanistan’s Test match against Ireland. Shah missed his chance by two points as he was outed by Ireland at 98.
'I had the dream to become the first centurion for Afghanistan. So naturally I was very upset when I got out scoring 98 against Ireland. Today I got the chance and scored the century’, said Shah. ‘It is a proud moment for me. I am the first person to have the first half century (in Tests) for the country and now the century’.
It was not easy for Shah to score a hundred in the match. Afghanistan’s main challenge during the game was the spin attacks of Bangladesh. ‘They are not at all ordinary spinners. They have a very good spin attack especially with Shakib Al Hasan’, Shah stated. ‘We had our minds set for the fast bowlers but they have got spinners in the attack’.
The one-off Test match continues until September 9. Despite Shah’s record, Bangladesh (-128.21) still has the best odds to win the match against Afghanistan (+110). Betwala has the in-play match odds of the one-off Test match and other ongoing matches as well.
