In what could be a big blow to Rajasthan Royals in their pursuit of a second IPL trophy, Australian quick Nathan Coulter-Nile has been ruled out of the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He had picked an injury while playing the opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
During the match, Coulter-Nile left the field without completing his four overs quota. He has not taken to the field since then, and Navdeep Saini replaced him in the next two games. The franchise is yet to announce a replacement for him, but it is understood that Saini will now become a permanent in the playing XI. Coulter Nile was bought by the Royals for a big amount of Rs 2 crore in the mega auction held in February. “Until we meet again, NCN. Speedy recovery,” a tweet from the Royals read.
Talking about the Royals’ journey in IPL 2022 thus far, they are currently seated right at the top of the points table with two wins from three games. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs in the opening game before beating Mumbai Indians by 23 runs in the second game. In the third game, however, they narrowly lost to RCB after being unable to defend 169. Rajasthan will next play Lucknow Super Giants on April 10.
