The Afghanistan Test captain is confident with his team
Afghanistan Test captain Rashid Khan is confident to play against Bangladesh in their upcoming one-off Test match. The match starts later today, with Bangladesh as home team. Khan said that the team’s confidence comes from their recent win against Ireland.
‘You win against a lower team or against a higher team, winning always gives you the confidence and energy. That's what we got from the last game against Ireland. We had the good game batting wise, bowling wise and fielding wise, and that's what winning gives you - full confidence’, said Khan. The team’s Test match against Ireland took place in March this year. Afghanistan won by 7 wickets.
Khan is the youngest captain to lead the team in Test cricket. He is excited for their match against Bangladesh. ‘It's quite good to be leading the team at such young age I think. It's a big opportunity for me to learn something from a very young age. It's always a great pleasure to be in the team. Forget about being the captain, merely representing your team in Test matches is a matter of huge pride for me’, stated Khan. Bangladesh has played more than 150 Test matches compared to Afghanistan but Khan thinks that his team is capable of winning the upcoming match.
The odds are for Bangladesh (-555.56) to win the one-off Test match against Afghanistan (+430). Check out the cricket odds on ongoing and future matches at Betwala.
