Saurashtra Cricket Association curator Rasik Makwana died on a Monday morning at the age of 71.
Since the early 1980s, Rasik Makwana has been associated with the Saurashtra Cricket Association as a curator. During the time he worked there, he was in charge of preparing some quality pitches on SCA grounds. Some of those he had taken care of are the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium and the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium.
The SCA shared an official statement about Makwana’s death by saying, ‘Everyone at the SCA is deeply saddened due to the sad demise of our former curator and former first-class cricketer Kamlesh Makwana's father Rasikbhai Makwana. He left for heavenly abode today early morning’.
In addition to that, former BCCI and SCA secretary Niranjan Shah also honoured Makwana. He said, ‘Rasikbhai was a jovial man and had in-depth knowledge of curating pitches and grounds. His contribution in developing cricket grounds of Saurashtra shall always be fondly remembered’.
The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium is one of the popular cricket stadiums in India. In fact, the said stadium serves as the home of the Gujarat Lions of the Indian Premier League.
