He first led the Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League in 2018
It was confirmed yesterday that Kings XI Punjab spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be traded to Delhi Capitals. The said team offered J Suchith to the KXIP. They traded Ashwin with INR 7.6 crores and an additional undisclosed sum.
‘Everyone is happy with this deal. We are happy, Ashwin is happy and Delhi is happy. We were in talks with three teams but have finally come to this conclusion. We wish Ashwin the very best’, Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia said.
‘We (Ashwin and KXIP) have amicably come to a conclusion that we should part ways’, he added.
Ashwin captained the KXIP and led them for two seasons. Last year, the team finished seventh in the Indian Premier League. In this year’s IPL, the KXIP finished 6th in the team rankings. He debuted in 2009, claimed 125 wickets from 139 matches. The right-handed bowler also played for Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2015.
