Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be unavailable for the upcoming Test series against England because of his thumb injury.
In their last match against Australia, Ravindra Jadeja had his thumb dislocated. During that time, he was ruled out of their final Test match that took place in Gabba, Brisbane. After that, he was then sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru so that his injury can further be assessed. Now, he remains to be ruled out from the upcoming Test matches against England.
It was expected that Jadeja will be unable to play for the first two matches and be available for the last two Tests. However, it is according to his test results that specialists said that his hand is taking more time to recover than what they had expected. With that, it was said that there is really no chance for him to be fit for the Tests. With his recovery taking longer than expected, his chances of being included in the white-ball games also became unclear.
If ever his test results had proven to be fine, then he would have to be sent to Ahmedabad early. That way, he would still be able to undergo the mandatory quarantine period before he joins the entire team.
Considering the fact that Jadeja will no longer be a part of the lineup, the drafting of Kuldeep Yadav for the second Test became more certain. Talking about this, Indian captain Virat Kohli said, ‘There are no regrets whatsoever on that decision. Moving forward, we will think of the combinations which bring us variety as a bowling attack, and not one dimensional, turning away from the bat’.
The second Test match will take place from February 13 to 17. So far, the odds for the game are -270.27 for the Men in Blue and +192 for England. To know the odds of other upcoming matches, visit Betwala.
