Misbah-ul-Haq calls for an extension for the inaugural World Test Championship.
Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s chief selector and the head coach of the squad is demanding for an extension in the duration of the inaugural World Test Championship due to coronavirus outbreak.
‘The tournament should be extended that is my view. That is the only way we can find and end the event in a balanced way. Matches can be rescheduled if the event is extended’, Misbah stated.
‘I just think that all teams must get equal opportunities in the championship even if matches are rescheduled. Whenever cricket resumes all teams should get equal opportunity in the ICC World Test Championship to try to play in the final. The tournament can be extended beyond 2021’, he added.
Misbah also asked all the players to look out for their physical health. He also said that their trainer sends advice on how to stay physically fit considering the equipment they have at home.
He also said that he does not agree with the comments made by all-rounder Mohammed Hafeez allowing tainted players back in the game. Misbah also expressed his frustration with Sharjeel Khan’s comeback after his two and a half year ban.
‘It is good that the PCB CEO Wasim Khan has had a long talk with Hafeez on this issue and Hafeez has shared his ideas as well’, he said.
‘It is my personal opinion that if you are playing as a player you shouldn't be giving such opinion as the ICC and PCB are the authority on these matters and they take decisions as per existing law’, he added.
