The home series against Bangladesh will be the third series without MS Dhoni
The board of selectors of India had a meeting yesterday. They finally released the squads for the upcoming T20I and Test series against the Bangladesh Cricket Team. The event is set to begin on November 3 in Delhi with its first T20I match.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman MSK Prasad spoke about Rishabh Pant, following his selection as the first-choice wicketkeeper of the two squads.
‘We are moving on, we are very clear. Post World Cup we have been clear. We started backing (Rishabh) Pant and wanted to see him do well. He may not have had the best of matches but we are clear, we are focusing on him only’, Prasad said.
‘We’re looking at younger options after the World Cup, so you can understand our thought process. We definitely had a chat with Dhoni and he also endorses our view of backing youngsters’, he added.
Pant serves as the team’s wicketkeeper since the West Indies tour following Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s absence. The home series against Bangladesh will be the third one he will miss.
Rishabh Pant plays for the Delhi Capitals, a franchise under the Indian Premier League (IPL). To know more about the IPL, read the page on Betwala.
