The Indian batsman praised Ajinkya Rahane for rescuing the Men in Blue during tough times
India Cricket Team batsman Rohit Sharma scored his maiden double ton during the second day of the final Test match against the South African Cricket Team. It was Rohit’s sixth Test hundred since the beginning of his career in the longest format of cricket.
He made his debut as Test opener in the series after the board of selectors considered him for the position. Since the beginning of the series, he has been scoring a huge number of runs that contributed greatly to the team.
During the post-match press conference, Rohit Sharma spoke about his performance as opener for Tests. ‘I got a good opportunity to bat up the order and hence I wanted to use it fully. Other many things would have happened, you guys could have written many things about me. But now, you will write good things about me’, he said.
The Indian batsman made a partnership with Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. They boosted India’s score by their fourth-wicket partnership of 267. Rohit later talked about Rahane and praised him for his ability.
‘We've seen Ajinkya for so many years, the way his Test career has progressed, and whenever the team has been in a difficult situation, he's come and rescued us. And this isn't something he's done just once or twice, he's done it in many innings. This shows how strong he is, mentally, and how much hunger he has, to be able to steer the team out of bad situations’, Rohit said.
Rohit Sharma is a player of the Mumbai Indians since 2011. The team plays for the Indian Premier League. To know more about the league, read the page on Betwala.
