Rohit Sharma to Break Martin Guptill’s T20I Record

Rohit is one of the best batsmen who have played more than five T20Is against South Africa

India vice-captain Rohit Sharma is on the verge to break a new record on the first T20I series against South Africa in Dharamshala. The batsman is still fresh from his side’s victory in the West Indies. They are the defending champions and leading in all formats.

In the first T20I series, Rohit is in line to break Martin Guptill’s record of being the leading run-scorer against South Africa. Rohit currently has 340 runs while Martin Guptill has a total of 424 runs.

Rohit is one of the highest run-scorer during the ICC World Cup 2019. He scored an astonishing five centuries during the tournament. The Indian batsman also broke Chris Gayle’s record of most T20I sixes during the second T20I match in the West Indies tour.

On September 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Test squad of the Men in Blue. Rohit Sharma is named as the opening batsman, replacing KL Rahul who failed to display an excellent performance during the Test matches against the West Indies in Jamaica.

'Yes, we are definitely looking at him (as an opener), and we want to give him an opportunity’, Prasad said. 'He (himself) is keen, and all of us in the selection committee are keen (as well). We want to push him, and give him some opportunities up the order, and see where he stands, and then we will take a call’.

India’s home T20I series against the South African cricket team began on September 15 at Dharamshala. India (-233) has the best odds to win in the T20I series against South Africa (+196). Check out the latest cricket odds at Betwala.
