Mumbai Indians team captain Rohit Sharma resumed his training and may be seen playing for the team on November 3.
Just recently, the BCCI has announced India’s squads for the upcoming tour of Australia which comprises Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Apparently, Rohit Sharma was not included in any of those squads who will play after the conclusion of the IPL. However, he was already seen training with the Mumbai Indians after he had sustained an injury.
Last October 23, the Mumbai Indians put out a statement which said, ‘Rohit Sharma has suffered left leg hamstring strain during Mumbai Indians' last outing. Rohit has made good progress over the last four days, while the management is taking one day at a time monitoring the recovery process in consultancy with BCCI. Rohit has been advised to rest for the match against CSK’.
After the release of the names of those who will be playing for the national squad, a BCCI media release stated, ‘The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma’.
However, it was two hours after the said release that the Mumbai Indians had posted pictures of a padded Sharma walking out on the field to bat on the team training. This was in preparation for their upcoming clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
With that, some became confused with the real condition of Sharma’s fitness including former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar who called for transparency.
Gavaskar says, ‘I don't know, I'm not on any of these public media but I was shown something about him practising at the nets for Mumbai Indians. So I don't know what kind of injury it is. Because if the injury was serious he wouldn't even be padded up’.
‘So we're talking about a tour that starts at the end of November for T20s and one-dayers but the Test matches start around 17th of December which is a month and a half away. And if he's practising in the nets for Mumbai Indians then honestly don't know what kind of injury it is’, he added.
The Mumbai Indians are currently on the top of the IPL 2020 points table with 14 points. So far, the odds for their next game are -133.33 for MI and +100 for RCB. To see the odds for other upcoming matches, visit Betwala.
