The Bangladesh head coach eyes Test victory over Afghanistan
Team Afghanistan is set to play a Test match against Bangladesh this year. The match kicks off on September 5 and will continue until September 9. The teams will play in Chittagong, Bangladesh and the home team’s head coach wants to have a winning start in the Test match. Russell Domingo asks his team to keep their guards up in the Test match. He thinks Afghanistan will be very confident entering the match.
‘Their (Afghanistan) spinners are very threatening. We have seen in shorter format how dangerous they can be. It's definitely a different format but they will definitely be threatening. They have got some match-winners, like Nabi and others. Rashid is a fantastic bowler’, said Domingo. ‘We need to make sure that we respect them and while also score some against them because it's really important to put the pressure on their pace bowlers’.
The upcoming Test is Domingo’s first Test match with Bangladesh. He was not very involved in the selection process and wants to observe how the team performs first. ‘Nobody plays to lose. It would be great to start with a win. We have to focus on our process we have to focus hard on being patience and bowling in partnership against Afghanistan’, Domingo adds.
The head coach also has high expectations for team captain Shakib-Al-Hasan. Domingo believes that the all-rounder can lead the team to win in the upcoming Test against Afghanistan. The odds are for Bangladesh (-666.67) to win the Test against Afghanistan (+480). Check out the latest odds on future cricket matches at Betwala.
