The opening batsman is the son of former cricketer Ken Rutherford
Hamish Rutherford re-signs with Worcestershire for next year’s County Championship. He made himself available to play across three formats in the upcoming season. The opening batsman played 14 matches for this year’s season and scored three centuries.
‘I am really excited to be returning to New Road for the 2020 season’, Rutherford said. ‘I really enjoyed my two stints with the club last season and hopefully, I can contribute to some success for the club next year. I look forward to catching up with my team-mates and support staff in April’.
Rutherford is the son of former New Zealand team captain Ken Rutherford. His father’s career spanned for 10 years with the national team.
Club chairman Paul Pridgeon was really pleased to have Rutherford in his team. ‘He did well for us and we thought trying to sign him for the entire summer was worth persevering with. He is available for all cricket. Hamish was very keen to come back, he is enthusiastic and has gelled with the rest of the lads in the dressing room’.
Hamish Rutherford has played 16 Tests, four ODIs and eight T20Is for New Zealand. To know more about cricket formats, read the page on Betwala.
