Chennai Super Kings batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad will not be able to play in the opening match against the Mumbai Indians.
CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad will continue to remain under quarantine after having tested positive for COVID-19 despite being asymptomatic. Following the IPL’s safety protocol, Gaikwad will have to return two more negative tests before he can be allowed to play for the team again.
As per CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, ‘Ruturaj has still not been cleared by BCCI medical team and is in isolation. He is unlikely to be available for the first match’.
With his unavailability to play the game, the CSK may be facing a problem as he had been the one who was seen to be a replacement for Suresh Raina who opted out of the game. It was said that he had impressed the team management during the training camp that’s why he had been considered to be a part of the team.
Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar who has also contracted COVID-19 has already recovered and is already available to play for the upcoming opening match. After his return to the training sessions, the management became pleased with how well he has picked up his pace.
‘We are very happy with how he has progressed. He is bowling well at the nets and looks to be in good shape. We are confident that he will be fit and ready for our first game. I can't say much about team composition but Chahar is very eager to play the first game. We will take a call before the match’, Viswanathan said.
The opening match will take place on September 19 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in UAE. So far the odds for the first match are -140.85 for Mumbai Indians and +104 Chennai Super Kings. To check out other credible betting odds, check out Betwala.
