Nadeem debuted for Test cricket during the third Test match against South Africa in Ranchi
First-class cricketer Shahbaz Nadeem praised Indian skipper Virat Kohli and called him as the ‘best captain in the world’. He made his Test debut during the third Test match against South Africa. The 31-year-old left-arm orthodox took four wickets on his debut.
Nadeem recalled discussing with Kohli about wickets and different situations during the match. He also expressed his satisfaction with his debut as he dismissed four players from the Proteas.
‘Virat (Kohli) is an amazing captain. I must say he is the best captain in the world. He leads by example. I am happy that I took four wickets in the match. I have played a lot of domestic matches and have a lot of experience. I want to use all of that experience in my international career. I am happy with my debut’, Nadeem said.
He described Kohli as a ‘born leader’ not just during the match but also during moments that the team are in the dressing room. Nadeem acknowledged Kohli’s skills for taking cricket into a level as the best team in the world. Aside from Kohli, he also praised Rohit Sharma for his classy batting skills and records he made in limited-overs.
Nadeem also revealed what head coach Ravi Shastri told him about his four-wicket haul. ‘Shastri sir told me, “you have done a brilliant job”. He wished me luck and said “continue to perform the way you did”’.
