Right-handed batsman Shreyas Iyer will lead Mumbai to the Vijay Hazare Trophy
Right-handed limited-overs batsman Shreyas Iyer will lead Mumbai in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20. The 24-year-old batsman successfully captained Mumbai last year and defeated Delhi during the finals.
Iyer is currently included in India cricket team’s T20I roster for South Africa’s tour of India.
The batsman impressed the selectors during India’s tour of West Indies. He scored fifties in ODIs during the tour. According to selectors, he is likely to become a permanent player in limited-overs for India cricket team.
Mumbai will play without senior players Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane because they will play for India’s Test match against South Africa. India cricket team will play three sets of ODI, T20I, and Test formats.
Suryakumar Yadav will make his comeback for Mumbai after being dropped during the last season. Sarfaraz Khan is also is back for the 50-over tournament. The batsman will return after leaving Mumbai to play for Uttar Pradesh in 2015.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy is an A-list cricket even in India. The tournament will begin in September to October of this year. Currently, Mumbai Indians are the defending champions of the tournament.
