He spoke about playing at Under 19 level and being mentally prepared for the international level
Young Indian cricketer Shubman Gill is starting to get recognition for his performances in Under-19 cricket matches. He had made a huge impact on the records he made such as the double century he scored against the West Indies A two months ago. Shubman drew praises from a lot of legendary players such as Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
Shubman spoke about scoring runs in international cricket. For him, scoring at that level isn’t easy as Under-19. ‘You need to be more focussed and know that it won’t be as easy to score runs at the senior level as it was while playing at the Under-19 level. You have to accept that. And then learn how to set yourself as a batsman, how to build and pace your innings’, he said.
‘I can’t expect myself to score hundreds and settle down immediately but things do take time. It was a great experience, we had already won the series, especially to play on challenging wickets and then reflected on how to adapt the pressures of international cricket’, he added.
Shubman also stressed about being mentally prepared for the international level. He said that a cricketer must differ his or her approach when playing in the different formats of cricket.
