The two wrist spinners did not play in the T20I matches against the West Indies and South Africa
Former cricketer and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly spoke about having Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal in the Indian Cricket Team. The two wrist-spinners are credited for their contribution to the team’s success in the Champions Trophy 2017.
However, during the post-World Cup, both spinners were missing. They struggled to score during the league where Yadav was benched and Chahal continued as the spinner but failed to get a lot of scores.
India is now preparing for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Skipper Virat Kohli said before that they’re playing more all-rounders in order to form the roster for the tournament. Yadav and Chahal didn’t play in the T20I matches of the West Indies tour and home series against South Africa. Ganguly said that Kohli must bring the two spinners back in the team.
‘Virat needs to bring back the wrist spinners into this format. I hope Yuzvendra Chahal has only been rested to give the opportunity to others or else he is a must for India in the T20 format. India doesn’t need two left-arm spinners’, Ganguly wrote in his column.
‘The T20 World Cup is in Australia next year and opinions and judgments will be passed. The key person amidst all this will be Virat Kohli, and it will be important for him to stay calm for a long period of time’, he added.
India and South Africa are slated to play the first Test match on October 2. The home team (-454.55) has the best odds to win against the Proteas (+360). Check out the latest cricket odds on Betwala.
