Stead said he hopes Tendulkar will greet the Kiwis a good birthday
New Zealand coach Gary Stead said he hopes former India captain Sachin Tendulkar will also greet Kiwi team players whose birthdays are coming up. This comes after Tendulkar wished India batsman MS Dhoni a happy birthday on July 7. Tendulkar also wished the Men in Blue good luck for their next two games.
“I’m sure he would do that,” said Stead when he was asked what he thought about what Tendulkar said to Dhoni. “I didn’t know that but hopefully we have a ‘birthday’ coming up and he wishes one of our guys it too.”
Stead also stated he hopes everyone will see the strengths and skills of New Zealand team members.
“India are a quality team. There’s no doubt they’ve got match-winners right throughout their line-up,” said Stead. “Hopefully you’ll see what Kiwis are made of out there as well, that ‘no die’ attitude and I guess stand up when we need to.”
New Zealand will play against India tomorrow at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. The Black Caps currently +230 odds to win the match while the Men in Blue have -278.
