Suranga Lakmal missed out on the Pakistan tour but is now set to return for a two-match Test series against Zimbabwe.
Lakmal missed out on the historic Test series of Sri Lanka against Pakistan after catching dengue. Now, he is set to return to the 15-man squad for an upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe.
So far, Lakmal has bagged 141 Test scalps. Asitha Fernando was drafted to the squad as a replacement, but is now dropped after Lakmal’s return.
On the other hand, the middle-order batsman, Kusal Perera has been left out. In Durban last year, Perera composed a hundred against South Africa. However, since that Test, he has only scored 44 runs.
Now, the Sri Lanka squad is composed of captain, Dimuth Karunaratne and teammates, Oshada Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Dilruwan Perera, Lasith Embuldeniya, Lahiru Kumara, Vishwa Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Lakshan Sandakan and Suranga Lakmal.
The first Test of the two-match series will begin on January 19, followed by the second game happening on January 27. Both Test matches will be hosted at the Harare Sports Club.
