Suresh Raina to Miss Out IPL 2020

Indian player Suresh Raina has opted himself out of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons that made him come home.

Following his retirement, Suresh Raina was expected to be seen on IPL 2020 with the Chennai Super Kings. However, just recently, he decided to miss out on the entire season of the IPL due to personal reasons which had not been disclosed.

The team’s official statement posted on Twitter said, ‘Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time’.

Raina was already seen to have travelled with the CSK squad on August 21. Aside from that, he had already been a part of the team’s five-day pre-departure camp along with the other members of the team like team captain MS Dhoni, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and many others.

So far, the team has been in quarantine since last week. However, due to several COVID-19 cases that emerged from the team, it would seem that they might have to prolong their self-isolation period.

Having Raina out of the game, the 3-time champions may have a hard time securing another title. With Raina being the team’s player with the most runs for the past 164 IPL games, it may be a little tough for the team this time. As the players will also have to extend their quarantine period, the team’s training might also get delayed.

Raina is the second-highest scorer in the entire IPL history as he holds a record of 5,368 runs. This falls shortly behind Virat Kohli who holds a total of 5,412 runs. Meanwhile, Raina still holds the number of most catches in the league's history with a total of 102. To learn more about the IPL, visit Betwala.
