Temba Bavuma will no longer take part in the remaining two One Day Internationals against Australia.
South Africa batsman Temba Bavuma has been withdrawn in the last two ODI matches against Australia as a precautionary measure ahead of the national team's India tour.
This is to allow the player to continue with his conditioning and rehabilitation due to a right hamstring strain. He last played for South Africa in the opening ODI against Australia on February 29th (Saturday) where he made 26 off 30 balls as the Proteas convincingly took a 74-run victory.
South Africa will travel to India on Sunday for the three-match ODI series scheduled on March 12th in Dharamshala, March 15th in Lucknow, and March 18th in Kolkata. Although he will not be featured in the remainder of the series, Bavuma was confirmed to stay with the squad.
‘He will remain with the squad as he and the medical staff aim to have him ready in time for the team’s tour to India’‚ Cricket SA announced.
Rassie van der Dussen, who was initially rested for the series, has been brought into the squad as a cover in Bavuma's absence. Van der Dussen has already arrived in Bloemfontein on March 4th (Wednesday) to link up with the rest of the squad.
South Africa (+160) will take on the Australian team (-188.68) in the second ODI match on March 7th at the Mangaung Open. For more reliable cricket odds, head over to Betwala.
