New Zealand player Tim Seifert has been confirmed to be the newest addition to the Kolkata Knight Riders this season.
Originally, the Kolkata Knight Riders had roped in Ali Khan as a replacement for Harry Gurney who had a shoulder injury. However, Khan, IPL’s first USA player, also happens to be injured from the Caribbean Premier League which preceded the IPL. With that, New Zealand player Tim Seifert has been called in as Khan’s replacement in the team.
Since Khan is still on the verge of recovery as per KKR CEO Venky Mysore, Seifert had been roped in by the team. This has also been confirmed in a tweet posted on KKR’s Twitter account which said, ‘He's got a (100 emoji) off 40 balls in T20 cricket! That speaks for itself! Here's welcoming explosive Kiwi, Tim Seifert’.
Similar to Khan, Seifert had also played for the Trinbago Knight Riders of the CPL which is owned by the same parent company of the KKR. Despite only having debuted in the CPL this year, Seifert has managed to score a total of 133 runs in the 12 matches where he has played.
Another report has stated that Seifert’s domestic team called the Northern Districts had confirmed that the cricketer will be another absentee in the Plunket Shield that had just started.
So far, the Kolkata Knight Riders are placed on the fourth spot in the points table of the IPL after securing five wins in the nine matches that they had played. The odds for their next match which is to be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium are +106 for them and -140.85 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
