Moody and three other prominent and decorated names applied for the position.
July 30 was the deadline for application for team India’s coaching staff including the head coach position. The second stage will now begin where applicants are carefully screened with the selected ones being shortlisted. Those selected will be interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) including former India captain Kapil Dev, former batsman Anshuman Gaekwad and former women’s captain Shanta Rangaswamy. Kapil and Gaekwad have served as coach of the national team.
The interviewing stage will most likely begin on August 13 according to the new rules set forth. Ravi Shastri, India’s current head coach, and other coaching staff members are automatically considered for their respective roles.
Some of the applicants for the head coach position are Former India fielding coach and Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Robin Singh, former international coach Tom Moody, former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson, and former Sri Lanka captain and MI coach Mahela Jayawardene.
Virat Kohli, in a recent statement, said that he would like Shastri to continue his role as the head coach seeing that his style has helped the team in a big way and that he and Shastri share a bond.
After India’s subpar performance in the World Cup, team India’s management decided that a change was necessary for the team to achieve its goal of winning. To find out more about the different cricket leagues, visit Betwala’s page.
