Robin Uthappa follows the appeal of Suresh Raina for the BCCI to allow non-contracted players to play for other leagues.
Suresh Raina recently gave out a plea for the BCCI to allow non-contracted players to play for foreign leagues. Now, Robin Uthappa did the same so that T20 players like him can play all over the world.
Uthappa said, ‘Please let us go, honest to God. It does hurt when we're not allowed to go and play ... It would be so nice if we could go and play at least a couple of others because as a student of the game you want to learn and grow as much as you can’.
This plea has been going around for a while since active male players are not being allowed to play for any other T20 leagues. Before, Yusuf Pathan was granted a NOC just so he could play at the Hong Kong Blitz. However, the grant was denied later on.
Uthappa also remains to be hopeful that the BCCI will hear their pleas as Sourav Ganguly works as a progressive president for the committee. He says, ‘Ganguly is a very progressive thinking human being, someone who has always looked to take India to the next level. He actually laid the foundation for where India cricket is now. We're hoping that he will look at this at some point’.
To date, non-contracted T20 players are only allowed to play for India’s domestic league which is the Indian Premier League. To learn more about this league, visit Betwala.
