Shankar had an injury scare when he picked up a niggle on his toe
India all-rounder Vijay Shankar had an injury scare when he picked up a niggle after facing fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah's delivery. Shankar was said to be in pain quickly after he was hit on his toe.
However, according to a source interviewed by PTI, the pain that Shankar felt had subsided in the evening.
“Yes, Vijay was in pain, but it has subsided by the evening. Hopefully, there’s nothing scary,” said the source.
This would have been another blow to India’s line-up after batsman Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of a few matches because of a thumb injury. Additionally, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar does not have a tear in his left hamstring but it was only stiff.
India will be playing next against Afghanistan on Saturday at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground. The Men in Blue currently have -143 odds to reach the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
