Warner replaces Kane Williamson as the new captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
David Warner is named as the captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming 13th season of the IPL. Warner was able to lead the team to victory in 2016 but missed the 2018 season due to the infamous Sandpapergate controversy. He also returned last year but the captaincy was given to Kane Williamson with Bhuvneshwar Kumar as his deputy.
‘I'm thrilled to be given the captaincy for this coming IPL 2020. I'm extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to lead the team once again’, Warner said.
‘I'd like to thank Kane and Bhuvi for the way you guys led throughout the last couple of years, you guys did an outstanding job. And I'll be leaning on you guys for the support and your insight to the game as well. And to the management thank you once again for giving me this opportunity. And I'll try my very, very best to lifting that IPL Trophy this year’, he added.
Warner is also the former captain of the Australian National Team in limited-overs and is a left-handed batsman who became the 4th player to win the Allan Border Medal more than once. He was also recorded with the second-highest individual score for an Australian batsman scoring a total of 335 not out against Pakistan.
The 2020 campaign of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 13th season of IPL will be on April 1 against the Mumbai Indians at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. To learn more about the IPL, check out Betwala’s page for more information.
