The Men in Blue chased down a rather low target but had to fight hard.
The first match between India and West Indies wasn’t much of a thriller but the crowd was delighted as India won the match. Neither was also able to score 200 runs.
The Windies gave up a wicket on the second ball, with Washington Sundar dismissing John Campbell for a duck. Bhuvneshar Kumar also got Evin Lewis’ wicket for a duck. Nicholas Pooran scored a couple of sixes but had his wicket taken by Navdeep Saini. At the end of 20 overs, the Windies scored 95/9.
Rohit Sharma scored a couple of shots to get the Men in Blue’s innings going. However, Sunil Narine looked to be in condition as he took two wickets in two deliveries, dismissing Sharma and Rishabh Pant in the seventh over. Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey withstood the onslaught and brought them back in the game. The Windies put up a fight and made India fight for their victory; the Men in Blue won the match with 16 deliveries to spare.
