It was a tribute to the grandmother of Evin Lewis who passed away before the match.
India and West Indies faced each other in their last ODI match for the tour before moving to the Test format. The West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first. Both teams made changes to their lineups: the Windies replaced Keemo Paul and Fabian Allen for Sheldon Cottrell and Oshane Thomas; India benched Kuldeep Yadav and played Yuzvendra Chahal.
As the game started, spectators noticed that Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis were wearing black armbands. It was to pay tribute to Lewis’ grandmother who had passed away just before the game began. Lewis chose to play this game and didn’t let the emotions get to him.
Chris Gayle, who will be playing his last ODI match, was batting well. He scored a six off Mohammed Shami after a few balls. Soon, rain started pouring and the game had to be stopped for a moment.
