Gujarat Titans won IPL 2022 after defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final at the New Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad. While the coveted silverware went to the Titans, the Orange Cap went to a player from the Royals’ squad for scoring the most number of runs this season. Let’s find out who the top 10 run-scorers from IPL 2022 are.
Jos Buttler – Rajasthan Royals
Jos Buttler may have not been able to set the stage on fire in the final, but he ended the season as the highest run-scorer. The England opener scored 863 runs in 17 innings at an average of more than 57 and strike rate of nearly 150. This includes four centuries and as many fifties. Buttler’s tally of 863 runs is now the second-highest single-season run tally after Virat Kohli’s 973 runs in 2016.
KL Rahul – Lucknow Super Giants
KL Rahul scored 616 runs in 15 games at an average and strike rate of 51.33 and 135.38. 2 centuries and 4 half-centuries. The skipper of LSG, KL Rahul led the team to the playoffs but they lost to RCB in the Eliminator.
Quinton de Kock – Lucknow Super Giants
KL Rahul’s opening partner Quinton de Kock scored the third-most runs in IPL 2022. He smashed 508 runs in 15 games at an average of 36.29 and strike rate of over 148. This includes a century and three fifties.
Hardik Pandya – Gujarat Titans
Title-winning captain Hardik Pandya top-scored for his team with 487 runs in 15 games at an average of 44.27 and a strike rate of 131+. He was the lone warrior for his side in few of the games and also played a significant knock in the final after Gujarat lost a couple of quick wickets.
Shubman Gill – Gujarat Titans
Shubman Gill, who was released by KKR ahead of this season, provided several important starts to the Gujarat Titans. He scored 483 runs in 16 games at an average of 34.50 and strike rate of 132.32.
David Miller – Gujarat Titans
Another Titan to make it to the list of top 10 run-scorers of IPL 2022 is David Miller, who scored 481 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of over 142. Miller’s best knock from the season is an unbeaten 94.
Faf du Plessis – Royal Challengers Bangalore
New skipper of RCB, Faf du Plessis performed well during the league stages but disappointed in both the playoff games. He finished the season with 468 runs at an average and strike rate of 31.20 and 127.52. It can be noted that the strike rate is rather unimpressive given that du Plessis enjoys a reputation of being a big-hitting batsman.
Shikhar Dhawan - Punjab Kings
The only Punjab Kings player to make it to this list is Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw scored 460 runs at an average of nearly 39. This includes three centuries.
Sanju Samson – Rajasthan Royals
Sanju Samson ended the season as the losing captain, but as a batsman, he finished as the ninth-highest run-scorer. Samson scored 458 runs at an average of 28.62 and an impressive strike rate of nearly 147. Samson could not get going in the all-important final.
Deepak Hooda – Lucknow Super Giants
LSG all-rounder Deepak Hooda ended the season with 451 runs in 14 innings at an average of 32.21 and strike rate of 136.33. Hooda scored a good knock of 45 runs in the Eliminator which his side lost to RCB.
