Williams Will Miss Out on Bangladesh Test for Birth of First Child

The captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team, Sean Williams is expecting his first child and will skip the one-off Test match against Bangladesh.

In the absence of Sean Williams, Craig Ervine will stand in as captain and lead the team for the Test match in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium from February 22 to 26.

Zimbabwe bowler, Kyle Jarvis is currently unavailable after sustaining a lower back problem on the first Test match against Sri Lanka in January. Meanwhile, Tendai Chatara is still recovering from his bicep injury.

Due to the absence of the aforementioned players, the team has recalled Chris Mpofu who last played Test in December 2017, for the four-day pink-ball match against South Africa.

Now, Zimbabwe’s Test squad is composed of stand-in captain, Craig Ervine and teammates, Sikandar Raza, Regis Chakabva, Kevin Kasuza, Timycen Maruma, Prince Masvaure, Christopher Mpofu, Brian Mudzinganyama, Carl Mumba, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Ainsley Ndlovu, Victor Nyauchi, Brendan Taylor, Donald Tiripano and Charlton Tshuma.

Kasuza previously suffered a concussion from the two Tests against Sri Lanka last month. Now, he regained his place in the squad after recovering.

Williams is set to join his team for the three-match ODIs against Bangladesh on March 1, 3 and 6 in Sylhet.
