Collymore said Gayle is looking forward to play against England
West Indies coach Corey Collymore said all-rounder Chris Gayle is excited to play against England fast-bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood.
“Chris thrives on that. I have known him since he was 16 and he has always loved a challenge,” said Collymore. “He has always enjoyed the challenge of fast bowling so I expect him to relish that.”
Windies coach continued that he knows Archer and Wood for a while and was impressed with both bowlers’ skills.
“They are both very impressive as we have seen throughout this tournament,” stated Collymore. “I did work with him (Archer) when he was a lot younger in Barbados. He was very impressive. The skills he shows now are ones he always had so we are expecting more of the same from him.”
However, Collymore said the upcoming game will be a lively match because the Windies also have their own fast bowlers.
“I don’t think many people like the short stuff, whether it is England or the West Indies. If you find a batsman that has a weakness to it, then you go after that,” stated the coach.
West Indies will play against England tomorrow at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground. Windies currently has +820 odds to win the game while England has -1429 odds.
