The Supernovas will lock horns with Velocity in the final of the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The Velocity, a team that was added to the tournament in 2019, will be looking win their maiden title while the Supernovas would be eyeing a third title.
The Supernovas defeated the Trailblazers by 49 runs in their opening game. Batting first, they put up 163 runs on the board with help from the likes of Deandra Dottin, Harleen Deol and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Later in the game, a four-wicket haul from Pooja Vastrakar helped the Supernovas successfully defend the target. However, they lost their next game to Velocity by seven wickets.
Velocity, on the other hand, lost their most recent match to the Trailblazers by 16 runs but registered a seven-wicket win over Supernovas earlier. Chasing 151 to win, they wrapped up the game in 18.2 overs thanks to a half-century each from Laura Wolvaardt and Shafali Verma. Earlier in the game, Kate Cross picked up two wickets.
The last game played at the MCA stadium saw a total in excess of 190 in the first innings and we can expect another high-scoring encounter in this game.
