Singh mentions his prediction for the bowler back in 2013
Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh praises young bowler Jasprit Bumrah for his performance in the recent months. Bumrah showed great bowling skills in all cricket formats and is currently the highest-ranking bowler in ODI cricket. Singh said that he already knew Bumrah will be one of India’s key players in 2013. They first faced each other in a Ranji Trophy match in 2013.
‘Bumrah is a class act. He is a once-in-a-generation kind of bowler’, said Singh. ‘I played a hostile spell of four overs from him and knew immediately that he was going to be a match-winner for India in Test cricket’. Bumrah recently made it to the top 10 Test rankings of the ICC. The bowler recently played in the Test series of India’s West Indies tour. India won all the Test matches of the tour.
‘A lot of people questioned whether he would be able to excel in Test cricket because of his unique action. But he has kept his critics quiet with some mesmerizing performances in the past three years, that too in all formats. At present, he is definitely a cut above the rest’, Singh continued.
When asked about his Test career, Bumrah said that he had a good start but he is still improving every day. After India’s tour in West Indies, the team will face South Africa later this month. India and South Africa will play three Tests against each other. Because of his performance in the Tests against West Indies, Bumrah is also expected to play in the upcoming Tests.
