The young wicketkeeper batsman received a lot of criticisms about his performance
Rishabh Pant has been compared with his senior Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He was named as the team’s wicketkeeper during the West Indies tour due to MS Dhoni’s absence. Many fans agree that he is Dhoni’s successor, but there are some who disagree and continue to throw criticisms at him.
Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan expressed his opinion on Rishabh Pant and how he should be used by the team management in the batting lineup. He also said that the young wicketkeeper-batsman should be given freedom on the way he plays.
‘The team management should try and use him where you get the best out of him. I think his natural style is to attack. So, he needs to be used where he is not left in two minds, where he knows the only thing he needs to do is the attack. If he is used in such situations, it would be good for him’, Zaheer said.
Pant received a lot of criticisms during the West Indies tour. He failed to score runs in the first two T20I matches. The young wicketkeeper-batsman felt guilty for his failure to score for the team. But, in the final T20I match in Guyana, he managed to score an unbeaten 65.
In the home T20I series against the Proteas, he only managed to score a combined 23 runs in two matches. Pant is set to play with the Men in Blue for the Test series against South Africa in Vishakhapatnam. Odds of the upcoming match will be available soon. Check out the latest cricket odds on Betwala.
