Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka are set to have two Test matches in January at the Harare Sports Club.
Two upcoming Test matches will be expected from Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. The first Test is set to happen from January 19 to 23, while the second is from January 27 to 31. Both matches will be held at the Harare Sports Club.
Last October 2019, Zimbabwe was reinstated as an ICC member and this would be their first responsibility since then.
In an interview, Lalchand Rajput, the head coach of Zimbabwe said, ‘Sri Lanka are always a very competitive team who have been playing well and I am looking forward to the Test series. For us, it's a new beginning, a new chapter, and it's good that we are starting off with the long version which always brings the best out of players’.
Zimbabwe’s last Test match was against Bangladesh, back in October 2018. After being suspended as an ICC member, they weren’t able to play much cricket. However, their head coach is remaining positive and confident on the team’s performance.
Zimbabwe cricket team will begin training on January 9, 2020. Rajput said, ‘We have the Logan Cup underway and the players who have been performing will get a look-in. It's important to have players performing well in first-class cricket and I am happy that in the Logan Cup we have players who have scored centuries and taken five wickets and more’.
