Australian player Billy Stanlake will play for the Melbourne Stars in the upcoming season of the Big Bash League.

Billy Stanlake has been signed up by the Melbourne Stars in a trade deal with the Adelaide Strikers who had signed Daniel Worrall in return. Stanlake has played 39 BBL games and has bagged 34 wickets to his name. He has played for the Strikers since 2015 and has also been a part of 2017 season’s winning side.

Being a part of the Melbourne Stars, Stanlake says, ‘The Melbourne Stars have been a very successful club for a long time in the BBL. While they haven't lifted the trophy yet, they have been a serious contender almost every season and I hope I can contribute to taking that final step’.

‘I'm looking forward to meeting up with the guys later in the year and getting stuck into what I'm sure will be a slightly different campaign to normal but it'll be great to get underway’, he added.

Having Stanlake into the team, Melbourne Stars head coach David Hussey says, ‘It's never that nice as a batsman to have the ball coming down from that height at you and when Billy is up in the 140km zone with a good yorker and bouncer, he's a very difficult bowler to contend with’.

Aside from that, Hussey also took his time to thank Worrall for his commitment to the Stars over the years. With that, he also wished him well in his new career with the Adelaide Strikers.

The tenth edition of the Big Bash League will kick off at the Adelaide Oval on December 3 after being postponed due to the pandemic. To learn more about the different teams which make up the league, head over to Betwala.
