The Jamaican opener was adjudged as the man of the match
Right-handed batsman Brandon King of the Guyana Amazon Warriors scored an unbeaten 132. They won the Qualifier 1 match against Barbados Tridents at the Providence Stadium last Sunday. The Warriors defeated the Tridents with 30 runs which led them to take a step for the finals. King’s score helped the team to keep their winning streak consistent in this year’s Caribbean Premier League.
The opener scored three half-centuries in the league stage. He is also the leading run-scorer of the season. King had a score of 453 runs from 11 innings. His record surpassed Trinbago Knight Riders’ Lendl Simmons’ 429. At the end of the match, he was adjudged as Player of the Match.
In the Qualifier 1 match, King partnered with Chandrapaul Hemraj. They stitched 73 runs in 9.1 overs. Shoaib Malik and Nicholas Pooran from the team’s middle-order boosted it. Pooran knocked two sixes off Harry Gurney during the final over. This helped the team declare 218/3 at the end of the match.
