St Lucia Zouks signs up West Indies batsman Chris Gayle to be their marquee player for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League.
After being released by Tallawahs, West Indies’ Chris Gayle will now play for the St Lucia Zouks. Last season, he made 116 runs in his second game and had ended the season with a total of 243 runs in 10 innings. Still, the team finished last on the table last season.
The Zouks had signed up Gayle and it seemed to be related with the new owner franchise which is the KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited. The same company also handles the Kings XI Punjab franchise of the IPL in which also Gayle also plays for. Today, the Zouks have Andy Flower as their head coach while Daren Sammy remains to be the team’s skipper.
‘This is great news for St Lucia Zouks and for me as a captain to have the universe boss on my side’, Sammy said. ‘Chris is one of the most successful T20 batsmen in the world and with his experience with our young openers, a lot can be learnt from Chris’.
Sammy welcomes Gayle to the Zouks and he said that he’s happy that he had been released by the Tallawahs. Aside from that, Sammy expressed his excitement for CPL 2020 which may accordingly take place once COVID-19 had been placed under control by August.
The Zouks is Gayle’s third team in the CPL as he had formerly played with the Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. To know more about this cricket league, visit Betwala.
