Jamaican star player Chris Gayle will make a comeback in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Jamaican player Chris Gayle sat out of the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) due to personal reasons. This year, fans will see his comeback in the new season of the popular cricket league.
This season, Gayle will rejoin his old team St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The team has also announced it on their official Instagram page. There, they posted a video captioned, ‘BREAKING!!! The Universe Boss, @henrygayle is back to St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for this year’s edition of @CPL’.
‘Hard-hitting with the bat & crazy with his iconic dance moves & with his trademark smile, Chris Gayle is truly a remarkable icon in the world of Cricket’, the post added.
This is not the first time that Gayle went back to a team where he previously played for. Looking back at his playing history it can be seen that he has already played four seasons for Jamaica Tallawahs then to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. He then went back to the Tallawahs ahead of the 2019 season but has failed to establish a great form.
Before the 2020 season, Gayle exited from the Tallawahs together with some controversies. He was taken back by the Patriots who needed their former captain back into the team. So far, Gayle will have his comeback in the team after having already signed a contract with them.
Gayle, also called Mr T20 or Universe Boss, holds a record of 424 T20 matches and a record of 13,898 runs. When it comes to T20s, he also has a record of hitting 1073 fours and 1017 sixes in his career. With that, it can be seen that his experience will truly be helpful for the team when the CPL starts on August 28. To know more about the tournament, head over to Betwala.
