CPL 2019 starts tomorrow, September 4
Cricket West Indies (CWI) recently released next year’s dates for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) tournament. CWI revealed the dates for the league tournament to make sure that all the contracted players are available for next year’s matches. CPL 2020 will be played from August 19 to September 26.
‘We are very pleased to be playing our tournament in August and September, a time or year that is perfect for us and our fans. Having the best Caribbean cricketers and the world's best overseas players is the foundation of our tournament and this period gives us that’, said Pete Russell. Russel is the current COO of the CPL. Meanwhile, CPL 2019 starts on September 4. Six teams will play in this year’s tournament and it will continue until October 12.
CWI CEO’s Johnny Grave also stated that the league is important for West Indies’ preparation for the T20 World Cup next year. He is excited for next month’s CPL 2019 as well. ‘The CPL has developed into one of the best and most exciting T20 competitions in the world and we look forward to hosting another successful tournament next month’, Grave added.
Started in 2013, the CPL is played in T20 cricket format just like next year’s T20 World Cup. Australia will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 and it will run from October 18 to November 15. Find out more about the CPL at Betwala.
