Head coach of Bangladesh, Russell Domingo claimed that Mustafizur Rahman must improve technical batting skills to come back to Tests.
Recently, Mustafizur Rahman was ruled out of the Bangladesh Test squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan in Rawalpindi beginning on February 7.
Rahman made his Test debut back in 2015 for a match against South Africa. In total, he has played only 13 Tests and pick up 28 scalps. Despite this, he has a remarkable record in limited-overs. He especially excels in the off-cutter for shorter formats.
On the other hand, according to head coach, Russel Domingo, Rahman must practice on his generating swing.
In an interview, Domingo said, ‘He has some work to do in Tests. I know Charl Langeveldt was busy working with him. Ottis (Gibson) will continue to do the work to get him to shape the ball into the right-hander. He has some technical work to do before he is seriously considered in Tests again’.
Domingo said that some guys are not capable to operate in both formats. He added that when there are not a lot of player options, it is best to have players who can play for both formats. He claims that right now, they have other options ahead of Rahman.
In the latest edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, Rahman was selected to play for the Rangpur Rangers. In the tournament, he was included to the list of players with the most wickets, having, a series overall of 20.
