Amla will be with the Blitz in the first two matches then he will play in the Abu Dhabi T10 League
Former cricketer Hashim Amla joins Cape Town Blitz to work as the team’s batting consultant for the upcoming Mzansi Super League. This will be his first role as a consultant in international cricket. He will work with the team during the first two matches then he will leave to play in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Coach Ashwell Prince said that he approached Amla due to lack of former national players in the game. There are players from the batting department who are excited to learn from him.
‘Hashim has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the game and we're really looking forward to him bringing that to our management team’, Prince said. ‘There are obviously a few very promising young batsmen in our squad, and I think they will benefit immensely from having him around. It's also an opportunity for him to explore whether a position such as batting consultant could be something that he might want to take up in future. I have no doubt that he'd do a great job at it if he did’.
