Former Australian pacer and current Sussex head coach Jason Gillespie will be the new South Australian head coach.
As South Australian head coach Jamie Siddons leaves his post, the South Australia Cricket Association (SACA) welcomes Jason Gillespie to be their new head coach. Gillespie accepted the role with SACA as he is also about to leave his post as head coach of Sussex in October.
With that, Gillespie will coach the South Australian side for the upcoming One-Day Cup as well as the Sheffield Shield. With regards to his new post, he says, ‘I'm deeply honoured to be afforded the opportunity to coach the South Australian cricket team. The chance to work with the players, coaches and off field team at the SACA is very exciting. Team SACA is something I'm very much looking forward to being a part of’.
Even SACA chief executive Keith Bradshaw shared his thought about Gillespie being in the team. He says, ‘The South Australian men's head coaching role is the most important in South Australian cricket, and we know that Jason is the right person to invigorate our program and push it forward’.
‘He is a proud South Australian with a phenomenal coaching resume behind him, we have seen how he has worked with the Strikers, leading them to their first title, and I know Jason will give it his all to steer the Redbacks in the right direction’, Bradshaw added.
Aside from being the head coach of Sussex, Gillespie also works as the current head coach of the Adelaide Strikers which play for Australia’s Big Bash League. To learn more about the BBL, head over to Betwala.
