The skipper said that the team loves Shakib and they will continue to love him
Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah spoke about Shakib Al Hasan who was sanctioned last week. He was suspended by the ICC after failing to report a match-fixing approach from a bookie. Mahmudullah spoke about Shakib, whom he believes as an irreplaceable leader.
‘We all know Shakib has been a great performer for Bangladesh. We know he did a mistake, but not a crime. We all are right now focussing on tomorrow's game as it would be a perfect opportunity for our youngsters to step up and showcase their skills’, he said.
‘Let me tell you. We loved Shakib, still love Shakib and will continue loving Shakib. And when he comes back, he will be welcomed with open arms’, he added.
He was asked what he learned from Shakib and ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza. According to him, Shakib is a great leader while Mashrafe is a good motivator. Those characteristics from both players were things he saw from them. He vowed that he will be a good leader to lead his side. As a team, they are focused to play and use their skills to win.
Mahmudullah plays for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, a team under the Caribbean Premier League. To know more about the CPL, read the page on Betwala.
