Australian-English player Matthew Renshaw has signed up a three-year deal with the Adelaide Strikers of the BBL.
In the last edition of the BBL, Australian-English player Matthew Renshaw had his breakthrough when he scored 348 runs with a strike-rate of 129.85 for the Brisbane Heat. As he had been counted as the second-highest run-scorer for the team last season, another team saw Renshaw’s potential and had signed him up for a three-year deal.
Talking about his new team, Renshaw said, ‘The Adelaide Strikers have always been an impressive franchise and to be joining them for the next three years, I'm just ecstatic. I'm looking forward to having Adelaide Oval as my home ground, which is an oval that I know well and is also one of the best in the world. Hopefully, it will be possible to play in front of our home crowd at some point, as they really do make such an incredible atmosphere’.
Aside from his statement in an interview, Renshaw also tweeted this and said, ‘Pumped to be joining @strikersbbl for the next 3 years! Big thank you to everyone at the @heatbbl for the last 3 years, I’ve really enjoyed my time with the club and team and all of our achievements. Thanks also to the fans for all your support! Excited for the next chapter!’.
With that, his transfer to the team has also been confirmed by Strikers head coach Jason Gillespie by saying, ‘We welcome Matt who is a proven batsman and he has really come into his own in T20 cricket in the last couple of seasons. He is a great character, and everyone at the Strikers is excited to have Matt on board for the next three years’.
So far, this has been the second move of the Strikers to change their players after they had traded Billy Stanlake for Daniel Worrall of the Melbourne Stars. To know more about the Adelaide Strikers and the league that they play for, check out Betwala.
