All-rounder Glenn Maxwell was listed as part of the squad for both the ODI and T20I squad for upcoming series against South Africa.
During the end of last year, Glenn Maxwell took an indefinite break due to mental health problems and since then, hasn’t played for the Australia cricket team.
However, Maxwell was able to lead the Melbourne Stars in the current Big Bash League. On top of that, he was named the captain of the team of the tournament by Cricket Australia.
National Selector, Trevor Hohns said, ‘It is fantastic to have Glenn back in both squads given his brilliant form in the middle order for the Stars along with his results with the ball. Glenn was one of the first picked in the most recent T20 team at the start of the summer, prior to his break from the game’.
Now, the ODI squad is composed of the captain, Aaron Finch and teammates Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner and Adam Zampa.
Meanwhile, the T20I squad largely includes the same players from the ODI squad, with the inclusion of Sean Abbott, Mitchell Marsh and Jhye Richardson.
So far in the BBL, Maxwell has shown an impressive performance in both batting and bowling by scoring 389 runs and getting 8 wickets.
