Mitchell Swepson signs a three-year contract extension with Brisbane Heat for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League.
Mitchell Swepson is the fourth-highest wicket-taker for Brisbane Heat. Having taken 41 wickets at 44 T20s with a strike rate of 21.7, he is indeed an effective member of the team. Yesterday, he was handed a three-year contract extension with the team so it is guaranteed that he’ll be seen playing for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League.
As per Brisbane Heat head coach Darren Lehmann, ‘Swep has learned a lot from the international spinners he has played alongside, from the likes of Shadab Khan, Yasir Shah, Mujeeb and Zahir Khan, and he has improved his skills and mental preparation along the way. He's a very versatile spinner who can attack but also build pressure, and that is quite a skill to call on in T20 cricket’.
‘We're all looking forward to getting out and playing again, even though we have all been very fortunate in Queensland to be outdoors a lot during our off-season. I think the BBL this year will be something that families and fans will seize onto as a welcome reminder of the memories they have enjoyed together in previous summer holidays’, he added.
So far, the Brisbane Heat squad comprises Tom Banton (Eng), Max Bryant, Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Matthew Kuhnemann, Ben Laughlin, Chris Lynn, Jimmy Peirson, and Mitchell Swepson.
