Allrounder Cornwall has been selected to play for West Indies in the upcoming Test series of India's West Indies Tour. Both teams will play two Tests for the tour. The opening Test match kicks off on August 22 in Antigua. Both teams have already released their official Test squad lineup.
Rahkeem Cornwall said that he had been waiting to play for West Indies in Test cricket. 'The feeling on getting called up is great-it's something I've been pushing to achieve for a long time,' Cornwall stated. The allrounder wants to deliver a good performance in the tour's Test series. He also said that he does not want to disappoint his family and friends.
Cornwall has a record of 260 wickets and 2,224 runs in 55 first-class matches. The 26-year-old believes that the Test cricket format suits him best. 'I believe the Test format suits my game because of the consistency a player needs over a long period of time to be successful and I've enjoyed that challenge so far in my career playing first-class cricket,' he continued.
The Test series of India's West Indies Tour continues until September 3. The opening Test match of the tour is also Cornwall's international cricket debut.
